Thank You for a superb opening event in Tartu - summary, slides, and pics.

We thank You all who came to the opening of the season 2009 of Mobile Monday Estonia. We had a full house and very good time. We had four great presentations and long question rounds.

So the event was very successful although the main speaker from Skype, the event sponsor had the last-minute cancellation on their presentation.

This time we focused all our efforts on the field of mobile security. We had persentations and discussions about following main topics: mobile client software security, communications channels security, server side security, security of Mobile-ID, social security related to LBS etc.

The presentations:

Peeter Laud, the R&D director of Cybernetica presented the results of the formal analysis of Mobile-ID, and also the possible attacks on the security system. The answer of him on the question: "Would you use Mobile-ID to make transactions with the bank?" he answered: "No." But we all know that computer-security people are a little bit paranoid :)

Indrek Saar, Software Security Architect at Playtech spoke about the mobile server side security issues and the main differences in the problems people face when integrate mobile and traditional server systems.

Ivar Heinola, CEO and Partner at OÜ AVL Express explained the challenges in privacy and social security related with LBS. The main result there is that Estonian legislation in this matter is quite under-developed.

And finally, Sven Kirsimäe, the Co-Founder of Mobile Monday gave as an experienced mobile software developer a presentation how to hack Java on mobile phones and how to send SMS'es on some Samsung phones without the phone owner knowing about that.

The event was also covered at the biggest computer magazine in Estonia: Arvutimaailm. Read the on-line version of the text here.

We thank our event sponsor Skype and we thank you all for coming and we'll see you at the next Mobile Monday event!

Estonian SMS self-service provider Fortumo.com is conquering Western Europe

Eesti SMS-teenuste isetegemise portaal Fortumo.com alustas aktiivset laienemist Lääne-Euroopas. Tänasest on SMS-teenuste tegemine võimalik 26-s riigis, sealhulgas üheksas olulisemas Lääne-Euroopa riigis.

"Seni oleme peamiselt keskendunud Ida-Euroopasse ning Aasiasse, kus alternatiivsed maksevahendid pole nii laialt levinud ning SMS-teenuste loomine on olnud mõnevõrra keerulisem," ütles Fortumo tegevjuht Martin Koppel. "Tänaseks oleme mõlemas regioonis hästi kanda kinnitanud ning on aeg pakkuda internetiettevõtetele võimalusi laienemiseks ja SMS-teenuste loomiseks Lääne- Euroopas," lisas Koppel.

Lisaks mobiilsele makselahendusele saab igaüks Fortumo abil luua SMS-teenuse ilma tehnilisi oskusi vajamata vaid 5 minutiga.

Praegu on teenuseid võimalik luua lisaks Eestile, Lätis, Leedus, Soomes, Rootsis, Norras, Taanis, Rumeenias, Bulgaarias, Serbias, Poolas, Tšehhis, Horvaatias, Hiinas, Malaisias, Taiwanis, Austraalias, Suurbritannias, Saksamaal, Iirimaal, Hispaanias, Portugalis, Prantsusmaal, Šveitsis, Belgias ning Hollandis.

Fortumoga liitumine on tasuta. Teenusepakkuja teenib iga tema tehtud teenusele saadetud sõnumi pealt sõltuvalt riigist 40-60% tulu. Fortumoga saab liituda aadressil http://fortumo.com.

Fortumo.com the leading Mobile Payment Platform for SME-s in Eastern Europe and Asia announced today its expansion to Western Europe. Starting from today Fortumo is providing service in 26 countries including 9 major Western European countries.

"We have deliberately focused so far more on emerging markets in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia since we wanted to first cover the regions where it's used to be more difficult to do SMS-payment or other SMS-services," says the CEO of Fortumo Martin Koppel. "In addition to providing new and more destinations to our existing customers, we see that our flexible approach to mobile payment will help web businesses to grow in Western Europe as well," adds Koppel.

Besides mobile payment, with Fortumo everyone can create SMS-services without any technical background nor cost in 5 minutes. Basic services are targeting at users without any technical skills, while advanced services enable experienced service providers to benefit from multi-country service, flexible user interface and competitive revenue sharing.

"Mobile Security: 0wned by MoMo" - We start our 3rd season on 7th of September in Tartu Ülikooli Kohvik at 18:00

Mobile Monday Estonia alustab oma kolmandat hooaga avaüritusega Tartus, 7. septembril, Ülikooli kohvikus, kell 18:00. Avaürituse teemaks on "Mobile Security: 0wned by MoMo".

Viimastel aastatel on küberturva teemad olnud kõrgendatud tähelepanu all. Seda ka põhjusega: me oleme üle elanud esimese kübersõja, enamus mida me teeme küberilmas on salvestatud mõnes andmebaasis ning vahel ka avalikult kättesaadav. Kuna Mobile Monday temaatiline fookus asub mobiilisektoril, siis käsitleme me privaatsuse ja turvalisuse teemat just mobiilitööstuse vaatenurgast.

18:50-19:00 - Snack and refreshment break.
